Ideas for Beaded Clothes
Beaded clothes have been made and worn by people for thousands of years. Beaded clothes are more popular than ever.
Beads are showing up on more than just evening wear. You’ll find beaded skirts, blouses, dresses, jeans, and accessories for evening wear, sure, but you’ll also find them on these same fashion items for daytime wear.
Any fashion item to which you add beads takes on extra glamor and sparkle.
Turn the ordinary into the extraordinary with beads. Use them as the main embellishment design on a garment or accessory. Or, add them into an existing pattern or decoration to highlight it even more. Add beaded trim or pre-made beaded fringe for easy, extra glamor.
Make one-of-a-kind items from new or even recycled clothing. Vintage beads can be recycled from unwearable clothing into new and modern designs. You can even take beaded jewelry and reuse the beads on clothing, accessories, or even home décor items.
Thrift shops and yard sales are good sources for broken or unmatched pieces of beaded jewelry at the best bargains.
Depending on the material that the beads are made out of, you can achieve looks from super casual to very formal. Wooden and plastic beads tend to evoke a more casual feel, while transparent glass or precious stones tend to evoke the feel befitting a formal affair.
You can “glam” up accessories by adding a featured design of beads. Or you can use them to accent the pattern or structure of garment or an accessory. Cover a plain bag with a mass of beads the same color and you’ve created subtle, instant glamor.
Feature a good-sized, single, vintage, artisan-type bead as the centerpiece of a design embellishing an evening bag. Wrap strings tightly around the bows of sunglasses for an outdoor daytime wedding. Or simply glue them to the frames. Add a beaded fringe to a simple evening bag and it will no longer be simple.
Don’t forget evening gloves at those formal occasions, especially if your hands and nails rarely see “glamorous” events. Cover them with gloves. Add a few beads to the back of the palms and your gloves will transform from boring cotton to glamorous cotton. Every movement of your hands will reflect the light and show off your handiwork.
There are infinite ways you can make beaded clothes and accessories using vintage beads and recycled clothing. You are limited only by your imagination.
